CalgaryT20 DLS

This Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) Calculator is to be used for all rain-interrupted / delayed matches for the CalgaryT20 Cricket Association. If any match is suspended after it has started such that the number of overs available to be faced by either side is reduced from that determined when the match started, the revised target shall be computed using this calculator.The following guidelines are to be used when using this calculator.

  1. Allocated Time – 3.0 hrs from the scheduled start
  2. Minimum overs for a match to be deemed COMPLETE – 5.0
  3. Time allowed for each over – 4.5 minutes
  4. Innings break
    1. 15 minutes, when the first innings is 15 to 20 overs long
    2. 10 minutes, when the first innings is 10 to 15 overs long
    3. 5 minutes, when the first innings is 5 to 10 overs long
  5. For any shortened innings, the field restrictions, bowling limitations (e.g. max 4 overs per bowler), etc. will be adjusted proportionately

 

In the event of a delayed start for any match

  1. Before the match is started, use the Remaining Overs Calculator with the following values
    1. Enter Total Time Lost (in minutes)
    2. Enter Overs Bowled for both innings as 0
  2. The overs remaining for both teams will be displayed in Red at the bottom
  3. The Match Status will also be displayed in Red
    1. The match is to be called off if the status is No Result (NR)
    2. If the status is CONTINUE, proceed with the match with the reduced overs

 

If the match is interrupted during the 1st innings

  1. Before the innings is resumed, use the Remaining Overs Calculator with the following values
    1. Enter Total Time Lost (in minutes)
    2. Enter Overs Bowled for the 1st innings
    3. Enter Overs Bowled for the 2nd innings as 0
  2. The overs remaining for both teams will be displayed in Red at the bottom
  3. The Match Status will also be displayed in Red
    1. The match is to be called off if the status is No Result (NR)
    2. If the status is CONTINUE, proceed with the match as per below
  4. Bowl the Remaining Overs for 1st innings as calculated in Step 2 above
  5. Before the 2nd innings is started, use the Duckworth Lewis Calculator with the following values
    1. Enter Max Overs (at 1st Inns Start)
    2. Add all delays for 1st Innings
    3. Enter Total Score – 1st Innings
    4. Enter Max Overs (at 2nd Inns Start)
  6. The Revised Target for the 2nd Innings is displayed at the bottom in Red

 

If the match is interrupted during the 2nd innings

  1. Before the innings is resumed, use the Duckworth Lewis Calculator with the following values
    1. Enter Max Overs (at 1st Inns Start)
    2. Add all delays for 1st Innings
    3. Enter Total Score – 1st Innings
    4. Enter Max Overs (at 2nd Inns Start)
    5. Add all delays for 2nd Innings
  2. The Revised Target for the 2nd Innings is displayed at the bottom in Red
  3. The Overs left to achieve this target will be listed in the ‘Overs Left at the end of the Delay’ column for the last delay entered for this team
    1. If the match cannot be completed (e.g. Allocated Time has expired), this value should be zero
    2. When this value is zero, the Winning Team will be displayed at the bottom of the calculator in Red

USING THE REMAINING OVERS CALCULATOR

To use the calculator please enter the following information in the order specified below. Only cells highlighted in Beige should be edited.

Total Time Lost (minutes)
Enter the total time lost for the match due to delays. Please add all delays for both teams.
Overs Bowled – 1st Innings
The total number of overs that have been played by the team batting first before the current delay e.g. enter 5.3 if the team has played 5 overs and 3 balls.
Overs Bowled – 2nd Innings
The total number of overs that have been played by the team batting second before the current delay e.g. enter 7.2 if the team has played 7 overs and 2 balls.

With valid data entered as described above, the following results are displayed at the bottom of the calculator.

Overs Remaining – 1st Innings
The remaining overs to be played by the team batting first. If you see a dash (-) here, the 1st Inns is to be deemed complete.
Overs Remaining – 2nd Innings
The remaining overs to be played by the team batting second.
Match Status
Use this status to determine if the match should proceed from this point on or if it should be called off.

 

USING THE DUCKWORTH LEWIS CALCULATOR

To use the calculator please enter the following information in the order specified below. Only cells highlighted in Beige should be edited.

Max Overs (At1st Inns Start)
Enter the maximum number of overs available at the start of the first innings.

For a normal Twenty20 match this value will be 20.0

Overs Bowled Before Delay
A maximum of 5 delays per team can be entered.

For each delay, enter the total overs batted by the batting team at the START of this delay e.g. if it starts raining when the batting team has played 5.3 overs, enter 5.3 for delay #1.

Wickets Lost Before Delay
A maximum of 5 delays per team can be entered.

For each delay, enter the total wickets lost by the batting team at the START of this delay e.g. if it starts raining when the batting team has lost 3 wickets, enter 3 for delay #1.

Overs Lost Due to Delay
A maximum of 5 delays per team can be entered.

For each delay, enter the total overs lost by the batting team at the END of this delay

Total Score – 1st Innings
Total runs scored by the Team batting first
Total Score – 2nd Innings
Total runs scored by the Team batting second

 

With valid data entered as described above, the following results are displayed at the bottom of the calculator.

Revised Target – 2nd Innings
After considering all delays and stoppages for both innings, this is the revised target calculated by the system for the team batting second.
Winning Team
The system uses the average score, revised target and the total runs scored by both teams to determine the winner for this match.
